Hi I am Steve Scott, a jewelry designer living in Newark New Jersey and owner of Baroque++. I am a sole-proprietor and have been designing jewelry since 2015. Thank you for visiting my store on Etsy!

What I Offer
There are four types of jewelry I make.
Custom rings and made of gold or platinum, and diamonds and precious gems.
Earrings and pendants made of silver, moissanites, and other gemstones.
Bracelets made of base metals like brass, bronze, or aluminum
Affordable glow-in-the-dark bracelets made of nylon.

All my rings are custom and made-to-order. As my mentor once taught me "Anything is possible". If you can imagine it, I can make it happen. I would love to work with you on a custom design.

My process
My approach to jewelry is a little different.  Using techniques from architecture and computer science, known as computational design, I use computers to simulate natural processes, such as trees, foliage, capillaries, flowers, vortexes, orbits, and flows.  After designing these shapes from the simulations, I use conventional modeling for placing diamonds, sapphires, and other stones. Although my work is generated by code, the designs are NOT AI slop. I design every algorithm carefully programming the code myself.

My Style
My jewelry is full of life and motion. It flows, and grows, it twists, it swirls. It isn't mechanical it is organic. It is not rigidly symmetrical, sometimes it is a little wild, a little random.

The Beautiful Flow of Precious Metal
While some jewelry designers focus on large diamonds with tiny, thin rings, My designs showcase the flow of gold and silver as a sculptural artform, and use diamonds and gemstones as the accent. My metal-focused rings will increase in value as gold becomes more precious.

My Workshop
I am a digital artist, and I design from my home office, with a computer and 3d printer. I work with workshops in the Diamond District in New York and workshops in Thailand, India, and China. In particular my friend Andy in Thailand makes excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail for a good value. If you prefer jewelry to be made in the US, I can do that too as a custom order.

My Story
In 2010 I was in architecture school studying to become an architect at Pratt Institute. I became obsessed with algorithms and agent-based modeling. Unfortunatly, I had a rough semester, my GPA dipped to 3.49, and was forced to leave three semesters into my program.

I had all these design skills, but I could not design buildings because I could not get my licencse without a degree, but I could design small objects like jewelry. So I knocked on doors and found a job a Rubertones CAD and Casting in Philadelphia as a CAD artist. I worked there for nine months, learning the ins and outs of the trade, the specifiations and tolerances of jewerly, how it was was designed, 3d printed and cast and polished.

My girlfriend at the time was with me through it all. I wanted to propose to her, but as a CAD artitst I wanted to design the perfect ring. So I used my agent based modeling skills from architecture school combined with my jewerly design skills to make The Big Ring, my first piece of algorithmic art. And she said yes! That is when I saw the talent in myself, and knew I should pursue algorithmic jewelry design.

At Rubertones they asked me if I wanted to help them build a website. I built them their first website and I realized I had a knack for programming. So I went to New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark to study computer science. Computer programming is still my day job, but at nights I am a jewelry designer, and a dad.

Since 2014 I have been building my skills, protfolio, and my business. I founded my company officially in 2021, as BaroquePlusPlus LLC.

We have a daughter and I am a proud parent. We bought a modest three-bedroom house in Newark, where I use one room as an office.

Why I design Jewelry
I love algorithmic design, and I think the pieces I create are sublime. I want to make as much art as possible and share it with the world, but there is only so much jewelry my wife needs! I sell jewelry so I can justify making make more of it. I want to share my art with the world!
