Sierpinski Star of David - Sterling Silver

Sale price $169.00 Regular price $280.00

This sterling-silver ornament represents mathematical perfection and the divine, the convergence of reason and reverence. It bears a strong resemblance to the Jewish Star of David, but you don't have to be Jewish to enjoy fractals and triangles. It is an excellent gift for Jewish relations, Jew-ish friends, but also secular humanists, scientists, atheists, and mathematicians, for a secular holiday gift. It can even go on a Christmas Tree.

The design started with a Sierpinski Triangle in my cellular automata experiments. I thought to myself, "How could I turn these triangles, which theoretically has an area of zero and never overlap, into a physical object?"

An ornament for seekers, thinkers, and artists alike—this is sacred geometry is available cast in sterling silver or gold-plated brass.

The Sierpiński triangle (sometimes spelled "Serpinski") is a classic fractal—an endlessly repeating geometric pattern that’s self-similar at every scale. It starts with an equilateral triangle, and through a recursive process, smaller triangles are removed from the center of each larger triangle, creating a lace-like structure that’s both simple and infinitely complex.

◄ CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR UNPLATED SIVLER ►
Caring for unplated sterling silver earrings is essential to maintain their brilliance and prevent tarnishing. Here’s how you can keep them looking their best:

Daily Care
Wear often – Silver naturally stays shinier when worn regularly, as contact with your skin’s oils helps slow tarnish.

Avoid chemicals – Keep earrings away from perfumes, lotions, hairspray, and household cleaners, as these can accelerate tarnishing.

Store properly – Keep them in a soft, anti-tarnish pouch or an airtight bag to reduce exposure to air and moisture.

Cleaning Routine
Gentle wipe-down – Use a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oils and debris after wearing.

Soap & water – Wash occasionally with mild dish soap and warm water, then pat dry with a clean cloth.

Polish with a silver cloth – Use a specialized silver polishing cloth to maintain shine. Avoid paper towels, which can scratch the surface.

Deep Cleaning for Tarnish
Baking soda paste – Mix baking soda and water into a paste, gently rub it onto the earrings with a soft cloth, then rinse and dry.

Aluminum foil method – Line a bowl with foil, add hot water and baking soda, and let the earrings soak for a few minutes before rinsing.

Avoid harsh chemicals – Never use bleach or ammonia, as these can damage silver.

Storage & Long-Term Care
Keep dry – Moisture speeds up tarnishing, so store silver jewelry away from humid areas.

Separate pieces – Store earrings separately to avoid scratches and tangles.

Regular polishing – A monthly polish with a silver cloth can maintain their brilliance over time.
